Q. I cannot enter Dates in the Date cells. Why ?
A. Month, day, and year need to be entered in the order that your
windows settings are set. Further you must enter the year in
full including the century. This will help in avoiding the
century issue when we get to 2000 A.D.
Example: If windows settings are month, day, year, then 10/23/1995
is a correct value for date. Wherease 10/23/95 is not.
Q. How do I enter more than one phone number in EasyList.
A. Yes. EasyManager allows you to enter as many phone/fax numbers as
you want to. To enter multiple phone number (or any other attribute
which has multiple-values), right click the mouse button while
keeping the mouse pointer in the cell where you want to add another
phone number. A menu will be displayed. Choose "New <Attribute>",
and a blank row will be added to the EasyList where you can enter
the phone number.
Q. Do you support phone dialers to dial the phone numbers directly from
EasyManager.
A. Yes, but only on Windows 95, and Windows NT. To dial a number,
simply click the right mouse button on the object, and a context
sensitive menu will popup, where you can choose the number to dial.
Q. I want to define my own EasyList with the attributes that I am
interested in. How do I do it ?
A. From "EasyList" menu, choose "Define EasyList...". A window with all
the existing EasyLists will be displayed. Choose an existing
EasyList to edit, or click on "New" button. A EasyList Editor will
be displayed. You can now define the EasyList the way you want to.
Q. How do I filter objects in EasyList ?
A. First, you need to create a filter object. Many filter objects are
also shipped with the product that you may use or modify. To
create/modify filter objects, choose "Edit -> Define EasyFilter..."
menu item, and define a filter.
Next, you apply the filter to a given EasyList/EasyLabel window. You can
do that in two ways. The easiest way is to open the EasyList, and
click the right mouse button while keeping the pointer anywhere
within the EasyList. This will display a constext dependent menu.
Choose the submenu "Filter By", and then choose a Filter object to
apply to the EasyList.
You can also bring up the EasyList Editor and set the Filter object in
the editor.
Q. How do I sort objects in EasyList ?
A. This is similar to filtering except choose the appropriate sort
menu. See the topic "How do I filter objects in EasyList".
Q. How do I export an EasyList in a comma separated text file.
A. Open the EasyList you want to export. Select menu item
File -> EasyExport. Check the box labeled "All Objects In List".
Select the appropriate export target and press Ok.
Q. How do I quickly find information on a Person/Business/or other
Objects.
A. EasyLook is a powerful tool to quickly access information on any object
managed by EasyManager. You can invoke EasyLook from "Edit ->
EasyLook..." menu. You can also invoke by pressing Ctrl+L or Ctrl+F.
Simply enter the name or part of name that you want to search on,
and all objects that meet the search will be displayed in it. You
can setup EasyLook to show only certain information.
You can also use right mouse button to display a context dependent menu
where you can select, delete, dial, send email, etc.
Q. How do I print an Address Book ?
A. EasyLabels are used to print address books, as well as to print labels.
This is a powerful feature as you can decide exactly what you want
to print in the address book (or labels). You can choose from the
predefined EasyLabels that come with EasyManager, or create your own
to meet your needs.
You simply print the labels on a plain sheet of paper and it becomes
your address book.
Q. How do I print envelopes ?
A. EasyManager does not have any support to print envelopes yet. This
feature is under development, and will be available in a future release.
Q. Can I Import Windows Card File into EasyManager ?
A. No. EasyManager does not currently support importing Windows Card
File. You will need to enter all the information manually.
Q. Can I enter free form comments for Objects ?
A. No. Even though EasyManager does not have any restriction to allow
comments with embedded end-of-lines and tabs, it currently does not
support entering/viewing it. There has not been much of a feedback that
this is a useful feature. If you think this is very essential
feature send email to 'support'.
Q. Can I change font style to bold or italics or change font size in
EasyLabel ?
A. Yes. You can change font size, and change font styles to bold,
italics etc. Choose menu item "EasyLabels -> Easylabel Font..." and choose
the font style. Note that all lines in the label will have the same font
style.

Q. When I create new objects or when I change object's attribute, the
object is shown in the EasyList(s) even when they do not satisfy
the filter criteria. Why ?
A. When you are creating new objects they bypass the filter/sort criterias.
This is because EasyManager does not know when you are done with
defining the object. Every time you change an attribute of an
object, it would be very annoying, if the attribute you changed,
fails to meet the filter criteria, and the object suddenly is
removed from the EasyList. Hence, a different approach is taken.
When you create an object, it appears in all EasyLists that show the
type of object you just created and the List will show "[Out Of
Date]" in the window title.
When you modify an object and the object is aleady displayed in the
other EasyList(s), then it will continue to be displayed (with the
changed attribute value), and the list will show "[Out Of Date]" in
the window title.
When you modify an objectand the object is not displayed in the other
Easylist(s), then it will not appear in the list, and the list will
show "[Out Of Date]" in the window title.
To update the List, simply press the "Update" button.
Q. When I create new objects or when I change object's attribute, the
EasyList(s) do not get resorted automatically. Why ?
A. This is on purpose. The answer is same to the similar question on
Filter above.
Q. I want to create separate EasyLists, one for showing my credit card
accounts, and another for showing my Subscription accounts. How
do I do that ?
A. By default, EasyLists show all objects of a given type for which
the EasyList is defined (i.e. the objects are not filtered).
For example, "Account List" is an Easylist where all the Account
objects are displayed (including Credit card accounts, and
subscription accounts).
To view objects in an EasyList that satisfy certain rules, like
viewing only the credit card accounts in an EasyList, you create
Filter objects and define the filter criteria. Then you apply that
filter to a given EasyList, so only the objects that satisfy
the specified filter criteria will be displayed.
In our example here, we would follow the steps below to view
credit card accounts and subscription accounts in two separate
Easylists.
1. Create all the "Account" objects (including credit card accounts,
and subscription accounts). In our case here, make sure you
choose the account type as "Credit Card" or "Subscription"
as appropriate.(choose the account type appropriately). You
can do this by creating object in the EasyEditor (you may
have to select the appropriate object type by clicking on the type
button in EasyEditor), or in an existing EasyList that displays the
account objects.
2. Define two Easylists, one that will show credit card accounts
only, and the other that will show subscription accounts only.
You may also modify an existing Easylist.
a. Click on EasyList->Define... menu item. Define EasyList dialog
will be displayed.
b. Click on "New", EasyList Editor will be displayed. [To edit an
existing EasyList, click on "Edit" button instead].
c. Enter EasyList name.
d. Choose object type as "Account"
e. Define the columns as to what you want to see in each column.
f. [If you choose "OK" now, you will have created the EasyList, but
will show all the Account objects.] We will define a filter
and use it in the Easylist to show only the objects of our
interest. This is the key step.
g. Select the appropriate filter criteria to use to filter
objects that are shown in the Easylist. If a filter criteria
does not exist that meets your needs, you can modify existing
filter criterias or create new ones.
To do that, click on "Define Filter..." button, and choose "New"
from the Define Filter dialog. EasyFilter Editor will popup.
Define the Filter criteria. Here we will choose "Type" as
Account, and the filter criteria as "Account Type = Credit Card".
Click Ok when done.
h. Click Ok.
You have successfully defined the EasyList to display the Credit card
accounts only. Do the same for Subscription accounts.
Q. I have defined a Filter criteria. Can I apply it on any EasyList ?
A. Yes, absolutely. Once you have defined filter criterias, simply
apply it to any EasyList that is displaying the same type of object
for which the Filter criteria is defined. To apply a filter
criteria, simply open the EasyList, and click "right mouse button".
A popup menu will appear, select "Filter by", and then select the
filter you want to apply.
Q. I have defined a Sort criteria. Can I apply it on any EasyList ?
A. Yes, absolutely. Once you have defined sort criterias, simply
apply it to any EasyList that is displaying the same type of object
for which the Sort criteria is defined. To apply a sort
criteria, simply open the EasyList, and click "right mouse button".
A popup menu will appear, select "Sort by", and then select the
sort criteria you want to apply.
Q. What is this "[Out Of Date]" that appears in the EasyList window
title. How can I get rid of it?
A. When an object is changed or new object is created, the EasyList is
automatically updated to reflect the changes and new objects, but it
does not apply filter and sort criterias at that time. This is why
the "[Out Of Date]" appears in the window title to remind you that
the List may not be properly sorted or filtered.
You can click on the "Update" button to Refilter/Resort the list.
This will remove the "[Out Of Date]" text from the title.
